ONE OF THE LARGEST FESTIVALS
The Native American Festival at Moundville is one of Alabama’s grandest celebrations of Native American communities. It offers a truly unique experience where visitors can learn directly from First Americans and gain fresh perspectives on our world. Importantly, this festival embraces all Native American communities that consider Alabama their ancestral homeland.
As Clay Nelson, the Director of Moundville, emphasizes, “Descendants of Moundville’s people are still here today.” This event underscores the fact that Native American cultures continue to thrive and maintain their profound connections with their ancestors in distinctive ways. The festival serves as a platform to celebrate this living heritage and deepen our understanding of these enduring bonds.
