The Demopolis High School’s Tiger Arts Guild is set to present “Little Women” from September 21st to 23rd at 7 p.m. and on September 24th at 2 p.m. The performance will take place at the Demopolis High School Auditorium.
This adaptation of the play is based on the beloved literary classic written by Louisa May Alcott. It delves into the lives of the four young March sisters – the spirited Jo, nurturing Meg, introverted Beth, and indulged Amy.
They face the challenges of maintaining their family during their father’s absence due to the Civil War, guided by their beloved mother.
This dramatized version of the timeless novel beautifully portrays the struggles each girl faces in finding her true self amidst hardship, illness, and sibling rivalries.
Under the guidance of Jody Tartt, the DHS Theatre teacher, students have diligently worked on constructing the set during classes, with assistance from Scenic Designer Joey Lay from the Actor’s Charitable Theatre in Tuscaloosa.
Tartt expressed her pride and excitement in the production, mentioning that the cast has been rehearsing since the beginning of the school year.
The cast for this play includes Caroline Davidson as Jo, Isabella Maclennan as Meg, Haley Jackson as Amy, Sophia Aplicano as Beth, Piper Roberts as Hannah, Mia Jones as Marmee, Joanna Duke as Aunt March, Shamarion Johnson as Father, Mary Jordan as Mrs. Lawrence, Ben Lindsay as Laurie, and Nathan Williams as Brooke.
