Today, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Central Time, Lift Our Vote, the Alabama Secretary of State’s Elections Division, and partner organizations are coming together to host an informative and interactive evening focused on voter engagement and community services as part of National Voter Registration Day in Alabama.
The event will be held at the Newbern Public Library, located at 7840 AL Hwy 61, Newbern, AL 36765.
The event’s agenda is packed with activities designed to empower and assist the community. It will provide voter registration services, distribute voter IDs, verify voter status, offer information on restoration of voting rights, provide updates on redistricting, and offer complimentary food.
Additionally, the event will serve as an educational platform to inform voters and residents about the issues that matter most to their community. It will also offer resources and tools to encourage all eligible Alabamians to exercise their right to vote.
Jessica Fortune Barker, the event organizer and Co-Founder of Lift Our Vote, highlighted the significance of this event, emphasizing its role in fostering a culture of voting in marginalized communities and helping individuals access the necessary resources to make their voices heard.
The event will feature the participation of various community leaders and organizations, including Lift Our Vote, the Alabama Secretary of State’s Elections Division, the Alabama New South Coalition, Black Voters Matter, Alabama Forward, and others who share the common goal of promoting civic engagement.
It is important to note that this event is open to the public and free of charge. Its purpose is to create a welcoming environment where individuals can learn about their voting rights, register to vote, and engage with their community on important issues.
