| Akshata Murthy is the daughter of billionaire co-founder and former CEO of Infosys, N.R. Narayana Murthy. She is married to Rishi Sunak, the current Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom.Murthy was born in Bangalore, India. She attended the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi where she received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. She then went on to Stanford University where she earned a master’s degree in business administration.
Murthy started her career working for her father’s company, Infosys. She later worked for Google, where she was responsible for developing strategic partnerships in India. In 2014, she co-founded the social media platform Backchannel, which was acquired by Vox Media in January of 2017.
